To be honest, I don’t know where to start with this letter as you’ve done so much for me in terms of getting me through tough times.

First of all, I want to thank you. Your music has helped me overcome and understand a lot of things. I am Half Black and Half White just like you, so I know what it felt like to not be accepted because of it. We were either “too black” for the white kids, or “too white” for the black kids. It also escalated into a more serious issue… Bullying. It was something I had to deal with when I was only 12, and I always felt alone as not many of my other friends that were Mixed Race had that problem. But when I heard your music, and that you experienced something similar, it was comforting as I now knew I wasn’t the only one who felt that way. The experience was of course terrible but it made me mentally stronger, so things rarely get to me anymore. Luckily I moved schools, and it was there that I made some real friends who are still with me today. Also, your music had helped me understand myself better as a person. As a Pisces, I am forever making new personalities, forgetting who I am in the process. Your music always reminds that no matter who you’re with, or where you go in life, always remember to be who you are. That’s something that’s been consistent with you all the way through your career. Your music has also helped me through heartbreak. It was a new feeling to me, and it hurt so bad I had no idea what was going on. But again, your music literally said all of the things I was finding difficult to understand which, in addition, helped me work out what needed to be done to get over that phase in life and start again.

I have seen you live twice now (Once at Club Paradise, Once at Wireless Festival) and I can truly say that I have never seen any other rapper grace a stage like you do. The set up is perfect. You, your band, some screens and lights. That’s all you need to put on an amazing show. There are no dancers or crazy entrances and outfits, so All of the focus is on you, and the amazing performance you put on. The energy you gave to a crowd of 18,000 people at the O2, and over 50,000 at the Wireless Festival was just immense. The emotion is so real, that it feels like I’m listening to the songs for the first time all over again. I can’t lie, I cried so much during the performances, and I lost my voice after lol :) The time you take to shoutout the crowd is just genius! “I said make it sound sweet” and it did :) My Mum and Dad was with me at Wireless, and they absolutely loved your set! They didn’t stop talking about it for a week ahaha.

So as I’ve now reached the age of 16, I can say that I genuinely feel like I’ve been there, growing with you every step of the way for the past 3 and a half years of your career. I can never fault your musical ability, because, as not a lot of people outside Team Drizzy know, it goes way beyond just slapping some bars on a track and putting it out. Everything is based off life experiences so it makes your music stand out from the majority of other artists of your generation. It also makes it relatable to all kinds of audiences as there is always a song for everyone. My Dad even goes to work listening to Room For Improvement! Your music is timeless. Also, i want to be a singer when I finish school, so the fact that you’ve kept it real from the jump (see what I did there ;) ) encourages me to keep it real very step of the way.

So Aubrey, you’ve got me well and truly Aubsessed! Your music captured my ears, your perfect face, body and whole physic captured my eyes (yes mi ah pree yuh.. Yuh warn do ?!) and your down-to-earth and pure personality captured my heart. Keep doing what you do best and never let anybody tell you that you’re not good at what you do.
